Reportedly, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police, was told to take a leave of absence and delegate his duties to his deputy, Christian Tetteh Yohuno.
However, the Ghana Police Service has denied these accusations. ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs, signed an official press release from the Service on June 30th, stating that the news is untrue and advising the public to brush it aside.
“We would like to urge the public to disregard this fake news and treat same with the contempt it deserves” as quoted from the press release.
The statement went further to discuss that, in line with the authority entrusted to him by President of the Republic Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Inspector-General of Police is unwavering in his efforts to oversee the Ghana Police Service.
