Ghanaian social media influencer and businesswoman, Mona Faiz Montrage, widely recognized as Hajia 4Real, has been sentenced to one year and one day in a United States prison following her involvement in a romance scam that targeted victims across the country.

Court documents reveal that Hajia 4Real played a significant role in a scheme that deceived numerous individuals through false online relationships and promises of love, ultimately leading to substantial financial losses for the victims. The scam, which operated through elaborate online personas, convinced victims to transfer money to Hajia 4Real and her collaborators under false pretenses.

After being extradited from the United Kingdom to face charges in the US, Hajia 4Real's legal team had requested a shorter sentence of three months. However, the US Attorney's Office argued for a longer 37-month term, highlighting the severity of the crimes and the necessity for deterrence.

This verdict underscores a crucial victory for law enforcement agencies combating online fraud and romance scams. It serves as a stark warning to individuals involved in such fraudulent activities that they will face legal repercussions for their actions.

Hajia 4Real's sentencing marks a notable turn in her public image, having previously been renowned in Ghanaian entertainment circles for her opulent lifestyle and fashion influence. The revelation of her participation in the romance scam has left many of her admirers and industry peers disillusioned and disappointed.
