Over the past few days, Ghanaians have voiced out their growing frustration over the soaring prices of mobile data services in the country. Access to affordable internet is not merely a luxury but a necessity in today's interconnected world, impacting education, business, and everyday communication for everyone. This issue underscores broader concerns about digital inclusion and economic development.

The high cost of data in Ghana can be attributed to several
factors. Limited infrastructure, including the availability of high-speed
internet across the country, poses a challenge. Additionally, the
telecommunications sector, dominated by a few major players, sometimes lacks
robust competition that could drive prices down. Regulatory frameworks and
taxation policies also play a role in influencing pricing structures.
Majority of Ghanaians are also disappointed in the National
Communication Authority and the Government as well for instructing the Telcom’s
to adjust their data prices.

known on the internet space as ‘Tech In Twi’ is advocating for cheap data rates
from the Telecom’s operating in Ghana.
Efforts to lower data costs should be part of a broader
strategy to enhance Ghana's digital economy and ensure that all citizens can
benefit from the opportunities presented by the internet. By addressing these
challenges through collaborative efforts and innovative solutions, Ghana can
move closer to achieving universal access to affordable internet, contributing
to overall socioeconomic development and empowerment of its people.
1GB of data is 17ghc. The minimum daily wage for a Ghanaian is 18ghc, so data alone has taken more than 98% of the wage. NCA, how did you implement this for the people to survive?#DissolveNCAboard #NCAAreTheEnemies pic.twitter.com/hqA31qLYz2
