The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has issued an alert following the confirmation of 36 cases of Dengue Fever in some communities in the Eastern and Central Regions. This outbreak has raised concerns among health officials and residents, prompting calls for increased vigilance and precautions.




Dengue Fever is a mosquito-borne illness characterized by severe flu-like symptoms, including high fever, headache, pain behind the eyes, joint and muscle pain, and rash. In severe cases, it can lead to life-threatening complications such as hemorrhaging and organ failure.

The GHS has assured the public that measures are being taken to contain the outbreak and prevent further spread. These include intensified vector control measures, enhanced surveillance, and public education campaigns.


Residents in the affected areas are advised to take immediate action to protect themselves and their families. This includes:


- Eliminating breeding sites for mosquitoes by removing standing water and debris

- Using insecticide-treated bed nets and wearing protective clothing

- Applying insect repellents and mosquito coils

- Avoiding self-medication and seeking medical attention immediately if symptoms occur
